Choked

If you could be any piece of jewelry what would it be?... If you'd ask me I would definitely be a choker for many reason but we won't even get into that. While you guys aren't aware but soon will find out, I am a HUGE jewelry fan. I have been into jewelry and collecting pieces for as long as I can remember. For quiet sometime I have been wanting to share with you this edgy and very feminine gold mini choker by Filili a New York based Jewelery line made by Luiny Rivera. Her pieces are eclectic and tell a story, and I love how all of the pieces from the collection can easily be entwined with any wardrobe.

This "eclectique" choker is made out of brass and the chain part of the choker is gunmetal and has a very small clear quartz hanging from it. I love that it can be worn two different ways depending on your mood and/or outfit.

It is also a great layering piece as well as an awesome way to turn a plain outfit into something with a little more personality. I LIVE for mix-matching different tones and styles of jewelry!
Filili has a variety of pieces starting from midi rings to body chains and jewelry. I chose this piece because not only was I looking for the perfect choker, I really like how versatile it can be. It was also all handmade... How cool is that? It makes me appreciate and value the time that went into making it, as well as the precision to detail.

The packaging was very clean and had a small branch of lavender. Which I thought was pretty cool and unique, although, this is very bad because I am a packaging hoarder!
Ms.Luiny's unique and delicate touch is very well appreciated. If you want to see more of Filili's collection click "here."

No Poo Curly Sue

For quite sometime I have been asked how my hair has grown so fast and how it keeps its sheen and softness. After two separate times of damaging my hair and having to wait over a year of recovery, I decided that I would change a few things about my hair routine and regimen. I don't know about you but no matter if my shampoo is sulfate, paraben-free, or natural it always leaves my hair knotted, frizzy, and feeling like rubber. (Options on shampoos for curly hair on my next blog post!) I noticed all it did for me was strip out all of the natural oils from my hair and because of that I completely stopped using shampoos. Instead I did my research and ladies and gentlemen, I discovered a new addition to my curly grail of products. May I introduce to you.. Drum roll please!!.. Cowash or Conditioning wash! This has been the most magical thing the Curl Goddesses could have come up with. It is more gentle, it is great for detangling your stubborn locks and it won't leave your hair dry while still lifting off the dirt, excess oils, and any remains that derive from natural factors. The best way to stay away from using shampoos is to eliminate any products that contain silicones from your regimen because they are only removed with shampoo and using a conditioning wash will only leave your curls looking dull and lifeless... So what should us curly heads stay away from? Sulfates, Surfactants and Silicones. We want those beautiful curls to bounce with class and sass!

"Let Your Hands Do The Talking"

A woman's hands are so powerful she can dictate a tribe or delicately nurture a child to sleep, and you bet I will be doing that with a little personality. My whole life I've enjoyed painting and fixing my nails, I most especially love having long nails. Not witch like long, but in a length and shape that says something about you. For so long I used to get tips but I realized that keeping up with that habit was becoming a little to pricey. I decided to give it a try and go natural and so it took me over a year for my nails to be completely natural and without any scarring from the nail removal. Thankfully, I was blessed with my Abuela's (grandmomma's) thick and hard nails. Like your hair, your nails also need to be maintained and moisturized. In order to maintain them I used strengthening base coats to keep them healthy and long such as the Sally Hansen "Triple Strong Strengthener," and hardening base coats to keep them from breaking like the Sally Hansen "Hard As Nails Hard As Wraps." These two have been one of my go to base coats and if the results aren't enough to tell you how well the product works then I don't know what to tell ya! Another way I have kept my nails long is the way I have been filing them. Before, I used to let my nails grow in a squared shape and I realized they were breaking easily on the sides as if they were an old sticker in a gym locker. It irritated me to have short nails so i started to shape them out more oval on the sides, giving it a rounder and more natural flirty shape. I can definitely say my nails don't break as easily anymore, and I am loving the shape it's more of my style. To finish off after putting on my polish of choice I resort to an acrylic and/or drying top coats. I use an acrylic top coat or sealer which gives my nails not only shine but a longer lasting color. As well as my "NailTek 10 Speed Polish," which allows my nails to dry in time before I forget and stick my hands in my bag. This has helped me flip the finger in style while making it worthwhile!
